25 Things That Make Me Happy // Lifestyle


Hey cats!

Here's a quick little tag post that I saw and thought was a brilliant thing to do! This tag was created by Liv over at Life Unscripted which I thought was an amazing idea to get people involved in, then I saw Steph's version of the tag over at Steph's World and both ladies did such a fab job so hopefully I can add to the list of people wanting to spread happiness. Also you should definitely check out both of their blogs, you won't be disappointed!

I've been seeing a lot of the blogging community focused on spreading love and positivity so I thought that not only is this tag a great way to get to know someone better, it's also an important tool in supporting self-care and promoting happiness; it can be so easy to forget the little everyday things that make us smile no matter what, that remind us to be thankful and make us feel like we can carry on each day. I wanted to write mine to give myself a boost but also to have to look back at in moments of sadness or self-doubt, so here it is:

  1. My boyfriend
  2. My cat
  3. Friends & family
  4. Writing/blogging
  5. Watercolouring
  6. Falling asleep to the sound of rain
  7. Coffee
  8. Candles, incense & oil burners
  9. Waking up everyday 
  10. My tattoos & piercings
  11. Cooking
  12. The colours green & orange
  13. Anything remotely hippie themed
  14. Talking to new people/twitter chats
  15. Doing DIY
  16. Leaving lovely blog comments/receiving them
  17. Doing puzzles (I adore arrow words)
  18. Thrifting
  19. Plants, especially cacti & succulents
  20. Freshly washed dreads (honestly, it's glorious)
  21. My boobs - childish maybe, but they're fun & they catch crumbs
  22. Gaming (Spyro the Dragon makes me so happy) 
  23. Remembering to take all my tablets
  24. Finding out things are cruelty-free 
  25. Learning new things
When I started writing these I found myself really struggling to even get to 10. I found it so difficult that I first wrote this at night and then had to carry on for the next two days chipping away at my list. I couldn't quite believe I was finding it near impossible to think of things that make me happy, despite knowing I generally have a fairly negative outlook on life (before common sense kicks in), but I felt so ungrateful and guilty for this. Then I immediately snapped at myself that "Hey y'know what, you have depression, anxiety and a butt-load of health problems and life is pretty difficult right now. Just because you have a hard time figuring out what you like, doesn't make you a bad person or hard to please, it just means you take a bit longer to figure out what makes you feel things and there's nothing wrong with that". Over my lifetime so far I don't feel I'm used to experiencing happiness, it's quite a foreign concept to me so I guess when I do feel happy it can be overwhelming, I'll still cherish those moments but maybe I'm not all that great at remembering them. 

Whether you're a blogger or not I think spending a little time writing down what makes you happy is endlessly beneficial and I'm thankful to Liv for creating this tag.
